Fontbonne's Varsity swim team and coaches after Sunday's rousing victory over arch rival Bishop Kearney, 88-81. On Sunday November 19th, the Fontbonne Varsity swim team put it all together to defeat arch rival Bishop Kearney 88-81, in their second dual meet of the season. The Bonnies combined veteran leadership from their juniors and seniors with the enthusiasm and exuberance of the freshmen and sophomores to overcome the Tigers for the first time in seven years.

With five first place finishes, including a dramatic dead heat in the 4 x 50 freestyle relay, and eight second place finishes, the Bonnies matched the Tigers stroke for stroke. The difference in the meet was made, not by the top swimmers from either team, but by the third and fourth and fifth places that scored those extra points to swing the score, making this a complete team effort.

Outstanding times were posted by freshmen Alexa Morrissey in the 200 IM (2:41.6), and 100 back (1:14.4), Elaina Anastasio in the 100 breast (1:21.8). Sophs Justine Macready, and Michelle Powers led the 200IM relay (2:08.7) along with Morrissey and Anastasio and the 200free relay (1:57.6) with Morrisey and Senior Virginia Maloney. Juniors Patricia Scherpf, Kristin McMaster, and Melissa De- Marco teamed with Soph Jacklyn Izzo in the 400 free (4:40.0).
