Teen Gunned Down In Ocean Bay Lobby Police Search For Two seen Chasing Youth
Detectives continued their search as The Wave went to press for two men who were seen chasing a teenager moments before he was shot and killed Monday inside a lobby at the Ocean Bay Houses in Far Rockaway.
Police officers found the victim, Christopher Glenn, 16, lying face up with a gunshot wound to the right side of his neck and several to his torso after responding to the lobby of 51-15 Almeda Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday, November 27.
Glenn was transported to Peninsula Hospital Center, where doctors declared him dead on arrival at 7:45 p.m.
Witnesses said that they found his body after hearing about 15 shots echo around the building's lobby.
Sources say that witnesses told police that Glenn had been harassed by several men who live in the sprawling Ocean Bay housing complex. They said that the harassment led to an altercation between Glenn and the men more recently.
Glenn, a junior at Beach Channel High School, was reportedly the star forward for "The Jackets," a local basketball team.
A source at Beach Channel High School said that Glenn was a good kid who sometimes cut classes but caused no problems at the school.
Police officials called a Level I Mobilization, which brought police officers from all over southern Queens to search for evidence and to patrol all of the buildings of the complex.
Four spent shell casings were found in the courtyard adjacent to the lobby.
