Rescued Pooch Finds New Home
A Labrador Retriever that was found last week with both his front and back paws bound on a Rockaway street corner has found a new home, The Wave has learned.
The lucky pooch was found by local resident Robert Press as he was driving back home to Belle Harbor.
The male black lab was lashed to a light pole on Beach 108 Street and Shorefront Parkway on a cold Sunday night. Press brought the distressed dog to the Howard Beach Animal Clinic the next morning, where he was cared for by Dr. Steven Weinstein.
The Wave published the story last week in the hopes of finding the dog a good home.
Don Boudreau, a Rockaway Park resident, decided to welcome the good-natured Lab into his home. Boudreau already has an older Black Lab named Mac and two other dogs he has rescued, but he explained, "There's always room for one more."
The dog was taken to his new home this past Tuesday from the animal clinic and is adjusting well to his new family.
