SFDS Basketball Tips Off On Thanksgiving Weekend

Kim Sluyk scored off the tipoff and the Girls Pee Wee B's were off and running. Emma Knox and Serena Yanello led the scoring as they continued their roll with a win over St. Adalbert. The Novice girls came off the soccer field to beat St. Thomas More as Meaghan King led the scoring. Therese Boyle, Megan Atwood, Caitlin Byrne and Casey McDade stood out on the defensive end.

The Boys Subnovice A played St. Thomas Apostle. The boys were sharp in the first half but did not maintain it throughout the game. John Boyle, Alex Goldberg, and Eoin Reen scored for St. Francis.

The Pee Wee A's beat St. Thomas More as Charles Gavigan, Jimmy Howard, and Jake Hollander led the scoring. Max Frankel put outstanding pressure on the ballhandlers, while Tommy Lynch, Garrett Murnan, and Ray Marten also excelled on D. John Meringolo was the leading rebounder. The Pee Wee B's finally got their season underway by winning a thriller against Sacred Heart.

The team played great defense and had a balanced offense led by Bard Featherston with 14 points. John Whelan hit the game winner with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

The Rookies also got started with a win over St. Rose. The Intermediates swept to two wins over Our Lady of Grace and Nativity. The Bantams beat Nativity. The Novices beat St. Helen's The Girls Rookies rolled over Our Lady of Grace and the Bantams beat St. Thomas More.

There is a full schedule of games on Saturday and Sunday, and with the soccer season complete, we hope to begin operation of the kitchen. After all the turkey on Thursday, a hot dog will do the trick! See you at SFDS gym. Happy
