BCHS Academy Hosts Awards Luncheon

The Renaissance Small Learning Community at Beach Channel High School conducted a S.M.A.R.T. Awards luncheon on Friday, November 10 for Students Meeting Academic Requirements Together. Dr. David Morris, principal, warmly greeted the students and saluted the staff for their hard work on behalf of this art, music, dance, and technology program at BCHS.

After the students enjoyed a sumptuous meal prepared by the culinary department led by Sheila Murray, Fred Simmons, a representative to Senator Malcolm Smith delivered a rousing motivational speech. Onikka Carrington, student of the month for November, provided student remarks. Thirty students pledged to share their S.MA.R.T. tips with at least one other student. The Renaissance staff include: Geraldine Arandez, Kelly Boucher, Indra Lakhram, Alexander Leicht, Beth Magazzo, Dawn Maldonaldo, Heather Reynolds, Linda Scott, Shawn Sullivan (logo), and Lorna Smith. The following students received awards: Anthony Arce, Lianna Badger, Arielle Brewster, Annisa Brown, Ruben Caminero, Cynthia Castillo, Dennell Cook, Dandice Digangi, Jenifer Espinal,Tia Evelyn, Tutul Gilliam, Jasmine Green, Romell Hall, Jordan Hartley, Nerlin Honore, Justin Jackson, Gregory Johnson, Danielle Licastro, Kiann Kissane, Jerel Minter, Jonathan Morales, Carlos Sanchez, Thalina Tavaris, Vendea Wilson, Elijah Winston, Vanessa Wood, Lyanne Vargas, Samantha Velasques, Darwin Villatora.
