The Rockaway Voice of the Faithful held a well-attended meeting at Stella Maris High School on Wednesday, November 15. The first speaker, New York State Assemblywoman Marge Markey, spoke about her bill to extend the Statute of Limitations for reporting sexual abuse. It also includes a Window of Opportunity for one year for those who have been excluded by the present Statute of Limitations.

Father Bob Hoatson, himself a survivor of priest sexual abuse, introduced two survivors, one of whom shared her story of clerical abuse at age eleven. Father Hoatson is the organizer of Rescue and Recovery, a group which seeks out and assists victims of abuse, many of whom are destitute.
