Far Rock Teen In Gay Slay
A Far Rockaway teenager and another Queens teen are charged with choking and bludgeoning a 55-year-old homosexual man to death last month inside his home in Howard Beach, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
Billyray Stanton, 17, of 320 Beach 27 Street and Alex Brown, 17, of 170-08 Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, choked and then beat John Canora with an aluminum baseball bat and a fire extinguisher before dumping his body in a drainage area in the basement of his home at 164-20 96 Street in Howard Beach, according to Brown.
Canora, who was gay, reportedly met teenagers in Jamaica and invited them to his house to smoke marijuana and watch X-rated films. The teenagers turned on him when he made sexual advances.
The teens then stole some cash, porno tapes and two vehicles, police said.
"The defendants are accused of a violent crime in which they befriended the victim and then choked and viciously beat him with a bat and fire extinguisher in his own home before callously leaving his body in the basement," Brown said.
Stanton and Brown were arraigned November 9 on two counts of second degree murder and two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. They face 25 years to life.
