Ann M. Casey Homemaker

Ann M. Casey, a Rockaway resident for 40 years coming from Brooklyn, died November 5.

Casey, a homemaker, was born in Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Ellen Gmelich; brothers, William and Edward; sister, Elizabeth Smith; and great-grandson, Teddy.

Casey is survived by her children, Kevin, Colleen Mininsky and Dennis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church in Rockaway Point. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Mattie Lou Davis

Homemaker

Mattie Lou Davis, a Rockaway resident for 41 years coming from Ozone Park, died November 4.

Davis, a homemaker, was born in North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James.

Davis is survived by her children, Howard Davis, Joyce Ann Parker, Tyrone Davis, Donald Davis, April Henriette Nwozuzu and Theodore Davis; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with visitation to be held on Friday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.

Donald Joseph Ennis

Retired NYC Transit Police Officer

Donald Joseph Ennis, who grew up in the Rockaways, died October 31. He was 68.

Ennis, a retired NYC Transit Police Officer, was born on December 23, 1937 in New York. He was the son of Tom and Mae Ennis, who owned a Pepsi distributorship. Ennis and his brother Mickey spent their entire childhood in the Rockaways.

Ennis served his country in the Army Reserve from 1961 to 1966, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus American Legion, 10-13 Club, and the Police Benevolent Association.

He was preceded in death by Michael Ennis, Mae ("Mary") Ennis, Thomas Ennis and Thomas Joseph Ennis Jr.

Ennis is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Donald (Wendy); daughter, Laura and her boyfriend, David; and grandchildren, Erynn, Fallon, Sean, Sophie, Liam and David.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Pinecrest Funeral Chapel in Spring Hill, Florida. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa's Church in Spring Hill, Florida. Disposition was at Pinecrest in Spring Hill, Florida.

Lovie Holloway

Factory Worker

Lovie Holloway, a longtime Rockaway Beach resident, died October 29. She was 91.

Holloway, a factory worker, was born on July 29, 1915 in Silver Creek, Mississippi. At age 40 she relocated to Corona, Queens and became a member of the New Zion Baptist Church in East Elmhurst. She was a faithful member for over 25 years until she moved to Rockaway Beach, where she joined the St. John Baptist Church in Inwood. She was the last of nine children.

Holloway was preceded in death by her parents, William Holloway and Loney Butler; three sisters; five brothers; son, Charles Rowan; and grandsons, Darrell McClain and Darren Holloway.

She is survived by her daughters, Earline Fletcher of Detroit, Michigan, Geraldine Howard (Moses Sr.) of Utica, Mississippi and Celestine McClain of Rockaway Beach; son, Albert Holloway (Setsuko Anderson) of Lumberton, New York; grandchildren, Curtis Fletcher, Marilyn Hurd, Kim Brown, Moses Howard, Angela Howard, Dennis Howard, Dustin Holloway, Devin Holloway and favorite granddaughter, Reesee; 20 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Bill Bates of Cambria Heights, New York; and sister, Daisy Hickson (Andrew) of South Ozone Park.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation and a service held at the St. John Baptist Church in Inwood. Interment was at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn.

Frank F. Hopkins

CCTV Technician

Frank F. Hopkins, a Far Rockaway resident for 35 years, died November 7. He was 69.

Hopkins, a CCTV technician employed by ECM Services in Howard Beach, was born in Jamaica, Queens.

He is survived by his children, Frank Jr., Michelle, Rodney, Ramona, Francisco (Melanie) and Christopher.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home Inc. in Inwood. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Far Rockaway. Interment was at Amityville Cemetery in Amityville, Long Island.

Catherine Moore

Former Rockaway Resident

Catherine Moore, a former Rockaway Beach resident who moved to Mastic Beach, New York, died November 2.

Moore was preceded in death by her husband, William Moore.

She is survived by her sons, William Moore (Myriam) of Commack, Long Island and John Moore (Lorraine) of Derry, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Jude's Church in Mastic Beach. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery in Pinelawn, Long Island.

William J. Mullaly

Risk Manager

William J. Mullaly, a Rockaway resident for 15 years coming from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, died November 3.

Mullaly, a risk manager, was born in Brooklyn. He was the former president of the Breezy Point Catholic Club; former member of the Board of Directors of the Breezy Point Cooperative; and an active Committee Member of the Breezy Point Cooperative.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Mullaly.

Mullaly is survived by his wife, Alice Talbot Mullaly; children, Susan Fisher (Jim), Denise Byrnes (JB), Michael (Rosanne) and Maureen Gormley (Kevin); grandchildren, Laurel and Owen Fisher, Ryan and Conor Byrnes, Mairead, Rhiannon, Niamh and Caoimhe Gormley; and brother, Tim Mullaly.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church in Rockaway Point. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.

Lillian Charmaine Stephney

Homemaker

Lillian Charmaine Stephney, a resident of Arverne since the 1970s, died October 30. She was 70.

Stephney, a homemaker, was born on June 14, 1936 in Richmond, Virginia. She loved plants, sewing, and the joy of having children around.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Brown; mother, Sallie Ford; and brother, Thomas Brown.

Stephney is survived by her daughters, Kim Gallop, Cheryl Stephney and Lisa Stephney; and sons, Derrick Stephney, Erick Stephney and Shaun Stephney.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation and a service held in Arverne.

Hector F. Vicens

Factory Foreman

Hector F. Vicens, a Rockaway resident for 50 years coming from Manhattan, died November 4.

Vicens, a retired factory foreman, was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Combat Engineer Co.

Vicens was preceded in death by his wife, Blanca Colon Vicens; and son, Hector Jr.

He is survived by his daughters, Blanca Barrett, Connie Dominguez, Vivian Diasparra, Janine Hewson and Mercedes Malave; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, with a service at the funeral home. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
