Queens Arts Council Gets Mayor's Award

In celebration of the Department of Cultural Affair's (DCA) 30th anniversary, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, joined by Chair of the Mayor's Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission, Agnes Gund and Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, Kate D. Levin, presented 10 Honorees with the Mayor's Award for Arts and Culture at Lincoln Center last week. Queens Council on the Arts was among the honorees which included the four other local arts councils: Bronx Council on the Arts, Brooklyn Arts Council, Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island, and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Also honored was the Louis Armstrong House & Archives, Mark Morris - founder of the Mark Morris Dance Group, The Public Theater, American Express and George York - principal of the Bronx High School for the Visual Arts.
