BCAC Shamrock Midgets Win At West Babylon Field

By Head Coach Gene Guttieri

It was a windy day at West Babylon, so the BCAC Midgets went to work on the ground. It was the key blocks by John Meringolo, Will Kazmierczuk, Kenny McGowan, Eamonn Gavigan, Russell Lawson, and ends Charlie Gavigan, Chris Moussa, that sprung RB Ed Hoff for a 39 yard touchdown run to make it 6-0 Shamrocks.

The defense would go to work as West Babylon would drive to the Shamrock 20. Coach Jim switched the defense to a 4 man line and fine defensive plays by Billy Collins, carmine Criscione, Chris Manfre, Vinny Spirito (happy 9th birthday), Matt Marketti (6 tackles) and Paul Rayder, stopped West Babylon on 4th down.

The offense then again turned to RB Ed Hoff who took it off the left side for an 86 yd touchdown run (3 rushes 140 yards.) for a Shamrocks 12-0 lead. West Babylon would drive down the field and score making it 12-6. The shamrocks would score once more before the half as RB Mike Abrams ran for a 49 yd td to make it 18-6.

The defense went work in the second half with fine plays by Ray Henry, Evan Riviere, Logan Conroy, Luke Schreiner and Sean O'Connor. An excellent play by Phil Jannis on 3rd and 1 hit the RB for a loss and then took the ball out of his hands and ran the ball to the end zone for a 25 yard touchdown.

The Shamrocks were leading 24-6 and though they allowed one more touchdown, the defense were tough all day with big hits by Mike Perrotto, Andrew Conklin, Jeffrey Manzi.

The BCAC offense which included RB Tom Kelly's 32 yard gain, would run out the clock and seal a 24-13 victory.

The Shamrocks are now 6-2 and play at Wantagh, who has a 7-1 record on Sunday, November 5 at 12:00 p.m.

Thanks to the parents for their support on this cold and windy day.
