SJEH Celebrates Breast Cancer Month

St. John's Episcopal Hospital observed October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month with numerous activities to raise greater awareness of the need for breast cancer prevention. A committee of nurses gave breast selfexamination demonstrations and displayed educational literature in the lobby. The nurses' committee included (from left to right): Cassandra St. Furcy, RN, Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Surgery; Arlene Falconer-Hill, RN, Nursing Administrative Supervisor; Myrna Lyons, RN, Nurse Educator; Gwen Pinckney, RN, Nursing Administrative Supervisor; and Angela Lynch, RN, Nursing Educator.

Twenty-five St. John's staffers participated in the American Cancer Society breast cancer walk held on Saturday, October 15, 2006 at Jones Beach. The St. John's team organizers exceeded their goal and raised $5,297 to date in pledges and raffles. Some of St. John's walkers on the boardwalk at Jones Beach were (from left to right): Lynore Dupiton, Vice President for Patient Care Services; Myrna Lyons, Nurse Educator; and Lorraine Gabbola, Imaging, who coordinated the fundraising and St. John's team.
