BCAC Shamrock Football Midgets Shock Seaford

By Head Coach Gene Guttieri

The BCAC Shamrock Midgets started their crucial game against Seaford with their offense driving down the field. Outstanding blocks by Tom Kelly and Mike Abrams sprung RB Ed Hoff to gain 31 first quarter yards.

The offensive line of Ken McGowen, Will Kazmierczuk, Eamonn Gavigan, Logan Conroy, Russell Lawson, Charlie Gavigan and Chris Moussa blocked excellently as the Shamrocks drove the ball. QB Phil Jannis took off on a 22 yd touchdown run off the left side while never once being hit. Hoff threw the ball to Charlie Gavigan for the extra point to make it 7-0.

The Shamrocks defense would take the field and stonewall their opponent for the rest of the game.

The Shamrocks defense of Matt Marketti, Vinnie Spirito, Luke Schreiner, Chris Manfre, Mike Perrotto, Evan Riviere, Sean O' Conner, Paul Rayder, Andrew Conklin and Carmine Criscione played well. Ed Hoff returned a Seaford punt for a 35 yard touchdown as the exta point was no good for a 13-0 lead at half.

The BCAC defense was pushed back by Seaford in the third quarter as they drove all the way down and scored a touchdown as they used up the whole 3rd quarter. The shamrocks got the ball back in the fourth, as RB Ed Hoff (7 rushes 81 yds) got key blocks from Tom Kelly, (10 keyblocks), Chris Manzi, and Joey Mure ate up a lot of time on the clock. The Shamrocks were stalled though and Seaford had one last try to tie the game.

The Shamrocks defense held off their opponents one last time as Rob O'Shaughnessy, Ray Henry, Billy Collins, John Meringolo, Phil Jannis, Mike Abrams gave the BCAC Midgets a 13-6 win. The Midgets are now 5-2 and play at West Babylon this Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
