Peanut Shamrocks Battle to Draw Against Oyster Bay

The BCAC Peanut Shamrocks played their last regular season Home game against the Oyster Bay Roughriders. The game started with the Shamrocks defense being challenged early. Charlie Bostwick, Bryan Bostwick, Johnny Weiss, Liam Malsy, Anthony Cimino, Adam Smith, Johnny Walsh, Brian McNulty, Steven Kenny, Michael Heinglein, Danny Clark, and James Carson were solid on the defense. Linebackers Steven Kenny, Patrick Minihane, Cameron Manzi and Safeties Matt Ostrander and Luke Hanning stopped an early Roughrider drive at the Shamrock 20 yard line.

The offense came onto the field, Bostwick, Brian McNulty, Johnny Walsh, Michael Henglein and Minihane opened some holes early for Anthony Cimino who sprinted 55 yards to the Roughrider 5 yard line. Liam Malsy took the next 2 handoffs for 2 tough yards almost breaking into the end zone. On 4th and goal from the 2, Anthony Cimino took a Cameron Manzi handoff and swept right for his 6th TD of the season.

On the next series, both defenses controlled the game, stopping each team respectively on downs and a Shamrock 6-0 Halftime lead. Leading 6-0, the Shamrock Offense opened the 3rd quarter with key runs by

Matt Ostrander, Luke Hanning, Patrick Minihane, Aidan Smith, Cameron Manzi and Charlie Bostwick but stalled on the roughrider 25 yard line. The game turned into a great defensive battle with both teams recording many tackles, sacks and turnover on downs.

The Roughriders scored early in the 4th Quarter after being forced into a 4th and 10 to tie the game 6- 6. The Shamrock Offense called Charlie Bostwick's number to try to break the 6-6 tie midway through the 4t quarter. The offensive line opened some big lanes and Charlie responded with runs of 20 and 15 yards. Charlie dragged defenders down to the Roughrider 15 yard line but the Shamrocks stalled handing the ball back to its awesome Defense.

The Roughriders tried to pound the ball up the middle but the Shamrocks defense were too tough forcing the Roughriders to a 4th and 5. Bostwick and Cimino recorded their third sack of the day ending a Roughrider drive and the game.
