Temple Beth El Hosts Author Brunch
The Sisterhood of Temple Beth El, located on Beach 121 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, will present its annual Book and Author Brunch on Sunday morning, November 5.
Katherine Weber, author of several well received novels and the Kratz Writer in Residence at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, will speak about her latest novel, "Triangle." It tells the story of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in 1911 that killed 146 workers, most of them women, and galvanized efforts of lawmakers to reform working conditions in sweatshops. Weber was drawn to the tragedy because her grandmother was a finisher of buttonholes at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company.
An open event, a brunch will be served after the discussion. To make reservations in advance or for more information, call the Temple office at (718) 634-8100.
