There's no dearth of headlines on youth violence.

These are all story headlines taken from The Wave within the recent six months.

We need some help with saving our youth and restoring quality of life, or better yet, value of life, to our neighborhood.

The Far Rockaway Weed & Seed site, an alliance of residents, community and faith-based organizations has resolved to do something, long overdue, to stem the tide.

There is an education process that we'd like to begin and continue with the youth and their parents. Our purpose is to host community/youth forums on non-violence on a monthly basis.

In order to get the people out of hibernation, and out and listen to the information and counseling we wish to impart, we are inviting well-known personalities to headline the forums. We've gotten some commitment from those who would be willing to aid us in this project.

We continue to outreach.

There have been comments scolding the local politicians for not taking the lead on the violence affecting our community. We believe, if we, as residents and mobilized citizens, put forth the effort to make a difference, all of our electeds will give their support.

Please help us to get the message out, there are alternatives to gangs, guns, and violence.

Children deserve a safe and drug free community in which to learn and play.
