SFDS CYO Basketball Begins 2006 Season
The girls of St. Francis opened the CYO Basketball season this past weekend. Emma Knox scored 8 points and Serena Yanello chipped in with 6 for the Pee Wee B's in an easy win over St. Helen. Kim Sluyk, Kayla Kilgallen and Taylor Vegh were defensive stalwarts was also scoring at least 4 points each. The Novice girls also beat St. Helen, 15-4. Daisy Trusttum tallied 6 points and Amie McManus made 4. Kristie Carey, Caitlin Byrne, Deirdre McCool, and Meaghan King spearheaded the defense.
he Pee Wee A game was a defensive struggle, with St. Thomas More surviving in the end. Julia Carey, Mary Ellen Woods, Kayla Rayder, Kerri Rose Brennan, and Erica Sorensen provided the highlights for St. Francis. The Intermediates exchanged leads with St. Stans throughout their game but fell short in the end, 33-30.
Rebecca Moers, Taylor Conroy, Annette Scotto and Allison McGovern led the offense.
Vanessa Ramos, Danielle Farragher, Kathryn Foris, and Kristin Ferrandino keyed the defense. There will be a full slate of games at St. Francis this weekend with games beginning at 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
