Special Election Coverage Begins In Next Week's Wave

With the general election on November 7 coming up in two weeks, next week The Wave will highlight the campaign platforms of the two candidates in the only local contested race - the State Assembly seat in the 23 Assembly District.

Those candidates are the incumbent, Democrat Audrey Pheffer, who has represented Rockaway in the Assembly for fourteen years, and her Republican challenger, Stuart Mirsky, who is a retired New York City Department of Health official Where do the two politicians stand on the major issues impacting on Rockaway and its residents. Those issues include housing, education, vouchers, public school governance, beach access, lifeguard recruitment, crime, eminent domain, Mitchell-Llama buyouts and a host of other topics.
