Midget Shamrocks Beat Lindenhurst On The Road
On a beautiful sunny day in Lindenhurst, the Shamrocks could not wait to redeem themselves after their first loss last week. The Shamrocks defense took the field in the first quarter and the tough playing of Luke Schreiner, Vinny Spirito, Billy Collins, Evan Riviere (1 sack), Mike Perrotto, Chris Moussa held Lindenhurst to no yards. The offense took over with blocking by Will Kazmierczuk, Eammon Gavigan, Ken McGowan, Matt Marketti, John Meringolo, Mike Abrams (two rushes, 38 yards) scampered around the blocks for a 32 yd TD and a 6-0 score. The defense got tough again as Ray Henry, Kevin Conklin, Jeffrey Manzi, Carmine Criscione and Charlie Gavigan stopped them again. The offense struck again as Chris Manfre (4rushes 58yds) took one for a 33 yd TD,with a great block by Joey Mure, Joey who also caught the extra point from QB Phil Jannis 13-0 at the half. The defense held again with great plays by Paul Rayder, Logan Conroy, Rob O'Shaughnessy, Billy Collins, and Sean O'Connor. With the team driving, fullback Tom Kelly and runningbacks Charlie Gavigan Vinnie Spirito and Carmine Criscione drove the ball down the field. QB Phil Jannis took the ball in for one yard TD. to make it 18-0. The bulldog offense scored 4th quarter to make it 18-6. The Shamrocks' Evan Riviere, Eamonn Gavigan, Schreiner helped push the Shamrocks to the 32 yard line before Eddie Hoff ran for a 32 yard TD run to make it 25-6.
The shamrocks used a balanced running attack as 11 running backs ran the ball for 248 yds. The defense was so dominant and it was all around great game for the boys, thanks to all the parents for there support all the way out in Lindenhurst. We could hear our fans on the field.
