Ravens Storm Out To Victory Against Warriors, Renegades

The Rockaway Ravens play in the American Youth Football League (AYF), which is a national organization of amateur football. Winning in this league can take our teams across the country to states as far as Arizona (where we traveled last season). This year, teams may travel as far as Florida to compete for national ranking.

With that said lets get into this weeks heart-pounding action. Our three youngest divisions traveled to Port Richmond High School, to do battle with our perennial rivals, the Staten Island Hurricanes.

We begin with the Mighty Mites, our 8 and under team. In this game, we were attempting to gain a strangle hold on the divisional lead by defeating a team who has not lost a single game this season.

This was a hard fought battle, which had all who were blessed to be in the presence of such an epic struggle left enlightened by the results of hard work and determination.

In a "come-from-behind" victory these young warriors rose to the score 7-6 by rallying in the fourth quarter. Next our Jr. Pee Wees put on a valiant effort but lost 26-12. Special recognition goes out to this team for fighting through adversity after losing numerous starters (including a QB and RB) to injuries or personal issues.

Our Peewees lost 26-0 leaving them with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses.

The Junior Midgets also played an away game by defeating the Staten Island Warriors by the score 14-0.

For our last game of the weekend our undefeated Midgets defeated the Brooklyn Renegades 18-0 to give them an outstanding 6 wins and no losses.
