Drivers Beware:New Red Light Camera For BCD

Mayor Bloomberg's demand that the city get 50 new red light cameras has led to one of the 50 for Rockaway. The camera was recently installed at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 140 Street. The camera automatically snaps a shot when a motorist passes a red light in either direction. The ensuing $50 ticket is then mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle without any regard for who was driving he car at the time. There is no appeal from a red light camera ticket. Pictured, the camera mounted nearby the bay wall on BCD.

An errant motorist goes through the red light, keying the camera. The owner of the vehicle will soon get a present from Mayor Bloomberg. An errant motorist goes through the red light, keying the camera. The owner of the vehicle will soon get a present from Mayor Bloomberg.
