Shinann Featherston, the Rockaway Park native who has soared to the top of the high school girls singles' tennis rankings with St. Francis Prep, was honored by the United States Tennis Association for her excellence on the tennis court.

The 16 year old junior high school player easily defeated her St. Francis teammate Katarina Kovacevic for her second consecutive Mayor's Cup singles title this past June. In her travels on the USTA Eastern Sectional Closed Circuit, Featherston was one of three girls to be saluted for her overall play in the Girl's 18's Junior Division.

The USTA salutes the top three junior players from age divisions based

on their performance and ranking. Featherston was honored at a ceremony at the newly renamed USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows Park.
