BCAC Midgets Shock North Babylon On The Road

By Gene Guttieri

The Broad Channel Midgets football coaches told their players how tough the game against North Babylon would be.

Broad Channel would withstand the challenge and won the game 7-0 as all the players played an exceptionally well. Broad Channel's defense recovered three fumbles and stopped the Bulldog offense all day. The Shamrocks had the wind in their favor in the 4th quarter knowing that if the game was tied at 0, then passing the ball would be an option. On an 1st and 10 on the Shamrock 45 yard line, QB Phil Jannis hit Mike Abrams on the run with a 55 yd TD and took the lead 6-0. Ed Huff then threw a half back option on the extra point to Abrams who again hauled it in for a 7-0 lead.

With 4 minutes remaining, the Shamrock defense went to work and held the Bulldogs on 4th down and 5 to seal the victory. Coach Jim and George switched the players in and out of the game to give them a break on this hot day. Coach John and Gene did the same on offense. All the players had a great game and my congratulations to the team for having a 2-0 record. The Shamrocks play at home against Levittown on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the reopening of the BCAC Field.
