Allen Cathedral Economic Development Conference

The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York will hold a faith-based Economic Development Conference from September 25 to September 27 at the Cathedral, located at 110-03 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica.

"With an exciting lineup of speakers, panelists and guests, this conference promises to be exceptionally informative, and produce ideas that will not only revitalize urban America, but our nation's suburban and rural communities as well," said Senator Malcolm A. Smith.

Among the scheduled participants are Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson; Illinois Senator James Meeks, who is a Pastor of the Salem Baptist Church in Chicago; Reverend Dr. Calvin O. Butts, Pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church; and Reverend Kirbyjon H. Caldwell, Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.

Attendees will have their choice of Emerging Track, Intermediate Track or Advance Track workshops during the weekend.

Workshops will cover topics that include Community Development, Fundraising for Church and Community Projects.

"This conference is a unique opportunity for church leaders to make a difference in their communities. I encourage all individuals interested in economic development to attend," Senator Smith said.
