Third Annual Disabilities Awareness Mass

People with or without disabilities are invited to attend the third annual Disability Awareness Mass on Saturday, September 30, 4 p.m., at St. Gertrude Church in Arverne.

The church, church hall and restrooms are fully accessible to those using wheelchairs or walkers. One of two ramps into the church building is located on Beach Channel Drive; the other around the corner on Beach 38 Street.

People with disabilities will serve as lectors and presenters in celebration of the contributions of people with disabilities in the life of the church.

A reception in the church hall will follow the service.

The event is the culmination of a collaborative effort on the part of the Parish Advocates for People With Disabilities from eight churches on the Rockaway peninsula and Broad Channel.

The Rockaway Irish Boys also donated a generous contribution for the event.
