Breezy Point Par-Tee Golf Packs Away The Clubs

By Peg Ansbro

Words of wisdom about golf according to Sam Snead: If a lot of people gripped a knife and fork the way they do a golf club, they'd starve to death.

No one starved to death at our 24th annual Par Tee golf luncheon at the Silver Gull. The food was delicious, the service wonderful, and the ambiance was beautiful. All this is due to the efforts of our chair ladies: Bea Sharrock and Alice Mateos. Well done, ladies.

Now to the awards. This year we have a plaque instead of a trophy. It is dedicated to the memory of Emily Basher who was one of the founding members of the Par Tee golf. The tournament plaque winners for the year 2006 are: Low gross goes to Doris Neimeth and low net to Joan Williams.

Season low gross winner is Peg Ansbro and season low net winner is Nancy Heffernan. The back nine tournament winners are: Low gross goes to Pat Powers and low net to Mary O'Rourke.

Back nine season low gross is a tie between Marian Lynch and Marge Driscoll. Back nine season low net winner is Pat Powers.

The most birdies for the season was awarded to Peg Ansbro. She also had the most chip-ins for the season. The most improved player is Bea Sharrock. And the award for perfect attendance goes to Marge OLeary.

The top winner for flight A is Nancy Heffernan. Flight B belongs to Joan Fallon. Flight C is awarded to Helen Mele. And the top winner for Flight D, back nine, is Vera Lynch.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants. It was a great year thanks to the two presidents, Maureen McGuire and Pat Jordan. And thank you ladies for continuing your presidency into the next year. Your leadership and wonderful guidance are very much appreciated. And until next season may thy ball lie in green pastures-not in still waters. God Bless. Have a safe, healthy and happy year!!!
