Margaret Hohl Homemaker

Margaret Hohl, a Rockaway resident for 11 years coming from Astoria, died September 13.

Hohl, a homemaker, was born in New York City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustave Hohl; and sister, Anna Bilodeau.

Hohl is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Jackman; grandchildren, Kathleen, Thomas and Gregory; and great grandchildren, Thomas and Owen.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.

Gladys Stephens Jackson

Longtime Rockaway Resident

Gladys Stephens Jackson, a Rockaway resident for over 30 years, died September 7. She was 81.

Jackson was born on August 16, 1925 in Jackson, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Claude; husband, Charlie Jackson; children, Nancy Robinson, Sterling and Gregory Jackson; daughter-in-law, Bertina Jackson; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jackson is survived by her children, Lillie Campbell, Pauline Rogers, Dorothy Glover, Charlie Jackson Jr., Tim, Garry, Larry, Roy Lee, Ronnie, and Monie Jackson; four daughters-in-law; three sons-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Interment was at Forrest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville, New Jersey.

Cecil Newton

Cook

Cecil Newton, a Rockaway resident for over 20 years, died September 6. He was 64.

Newton, a cook, was born on December 24, 1941 in Flomaton, Alabama. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Temple in Far Rockaway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Phyllis "Mama Jack" Newton; and one grandchild.

Newton is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Denise, Tim, Karen, Kareem, Toshina, Alice, Amatullah, Monique, LaTasha, Aleah, Destiny, Demetrius and "Sophia"; special sons, Dwight and Shawn; sister, Dorothy Newton; brothers, Williard Newton, Jimmie Newton (Gwendolyn) and Roy Newton (Bessie); 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five godchildren; aunts, Minnie L. Odom and Mary Pearl; uncles, Marshall Brooks, John Brooks and John Newton; mother-in-law, Ester Stanley; eight sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at Beth-El Temple in Far Rockaway. Interment was at Pleasant Jordan Cemetery in Flomaton, Alabama.

Thomas V. Peterson

NYPD Sergeant

Thomas V. Peterson, a Rockaway resident for 40 years, died September 7.

Peterson, a retired NYPD Sergeant for the Medical Section of Psychological Services, who retired in 1980, was born in Brooklyn. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1966. Peterson was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Smith Peterson; son, Thomas Peterson; and daughters, Theresa and Maureen Peterson.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church in Rockaway Point. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.

Sheila Reddick

Teacher

Sheila Reddick, a Rockaway resident for over 20 years, died September 10. She was 62.

Reddick, a teacher, was born on February 25, 1944 in Brooklyn. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Headquarters Prayer Band Mission of New Beginning Deliverance Church in Far Rockaway.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dennis, Gordon and Irvin.

Reddick is survived by her husband, Bobby Reddick; sons, Russelle, Bobby and Anthony Reddick; daughter, Michelle Reddick; daughters-in-law, Wendy and Monique Reddick; son-in-law, Samuel Day; grandchildren, Shanel, Shaniqua, Anthony, Shanice, Jordon, Shantel, Sharon, Nicole and Shane; great-grandchildren, Lemel Jr. and Terrell; sisters, Pauline Milton, Brenda Grimes, Denise Stout and Marie Hopkins; eight brothers-in-law; nephews, Harry, Buddy, Jessie, Robert, Richard, Henry and William Reddick; members of the Holy Ghost Headquarters Prayer Band Mission; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. at Holy Ghost Headquarters Prayer Band Mission of New Beginning Deliverance Church, 3820 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Far Rockaway. Interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.

Ellen K. Tynan

Homemaker

Ellen K. Tynan, a Rockaway resident for 30 years coming from Jackson Heights, died September 12.

Tynan, a homemaker, was born in County Leitrim, Ireland.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony, John and Thomas Canning.

Tynan is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Mary Ann Tynan and Sheila Gallagher; granddaughter, Taylor Shannon Gallagher; brothers, Christopher, Charles and Patrick Canning; and sisters, Mary McCartin, Lilly Behrens and Margaret Voity.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 16 at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Point Lookout. Interment will be held at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
