Red Cross Emergency Responders Provide Hurricane Info

A disaster relief vehicle, manned by Red Cross officials and volunteers came to Rockaway on Friday to tell people what to do should a massive hurricane hit Rockaway. Pictured, Christophe Lobry-Boulanger, a senior volunteer partner in planning and logistics services for the organization (left) and Joan A. Foley, the organization's Queens Director, speak with local resident Boris Martynuk on Beach 116 Street. The Red Cross urges all Rockaway residents to put together a Disaster Supply Kit, in a container that can easily be taken in case of emergency, and to prepare an evacuation plan in case you and your family need to leave quickly. The Red Cross also urges all homeowners to know how to turn off electricity and gas to their home in case they are advised to do so by officials.
