Addabbo Announces Library Changes

Either Seaside Or Peninsula Will Go To Six Days A Week Schedule

Councilman Joseph Addabbo Jr.'s news that the Seaside or Peninsula Library will soon go to a six day a week schedule was met with applause at the recent Rockaway Park Homeowners/ Residents meeting on August 22. The recent budget allows "every council member to choose a library in his district to go to six days," said Addabbo. It is hoped that the announcement on which library gets the extended schedule will be made by the end of the year. Addabbo, who represents the 32nd district, has been a long-time proponent for increasing library hours. "They should be open seven days [a week]," he said. The Far Rockaway Library, in the 31st council district - represented by James Sanders Jr. - is already open six days a week. There is word yet on any further changes in Sander's district.
