Paralegal Course Offered At Brooklyn College
CUNY Brooklyn College will offer a Paralegal Certificate Course during the fall semester of 2006, taught by local attorneys including Lillian O'Reilly. The course will feature 84 hours of intensive study, WESTLAW training, as well as opportunities for a voluntary internship and job placement.
Due to the increasing need for assistance in law firms, corporate legal departments and governmental offices, the paralegal field continues to grow steadily, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that paralegal positions will increase by 29% through 2012. Currently, the national average salary for paralegals is $39,130, with the average entry-level salary for those in the Brooklyn area is $44,798.
The Center for Legal Studies has been offering this curriculum nationwide since 1980, and is now pairing up with Brooklyn College to offer it locally, beginning on September 9.
Graduates who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion from Brooklyn College.
