Beach Cleanup Rewarded With Hot 97 Concert

In an effort to promote community service among inner-city youth, Councilman James Sanders Jr. and the Boost Mobile RockCorps will host a beach cleanup on September 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Beach 46 Street.

Boost Mobile RockCorps volunteers will attend a private concert hosted by Hot 97 at Radio City Music Hall on September 23, 2006 for participating in the cleanup. Among the artists who are expected to perform are Young Jeezy, Paul Wall, Big Boi, Slim Thug, The Game, Keyshia Cole and many more. The concert will be televised and hosted by Nick Cannon.

"There is nothing better than giving back to your community. Community service gives us a chance not only to feel good about ourselves, but make a difference in the community we live in.

I encourage the youth of Far Rockaway to not only join this cleanup next week, but the many other worthy projects in the upcoming year that are dedicated to making the community better," said Councilman Sanders.

For more information about the beach cleanup, contact Donovan Richards or Gail Bailey at Councilman Sanders' Rockaway office at (718) 471-7014.
