Daly Run Raises Money To Benefit Children

The Eighth Annual Rita Daly Memorial 5K Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, September 30 at 11 a.m., starting at the boardwalk on Beach 84 Street.

There will be Pee Wee races prior to the event, which will take place rain or shine.

All proceeds for the event go to the St. Rose of Lima School. Tee shirts and trophies will be given out, and there will be a post-race party at St. Rose of Lima church, which is located at Beach 84 Street.

The event honors Rita Daly, a Rockaway resident who died in 1996 after serving for more than 22 years as the head librarian at St. Rose of Lima. Her caring towards the children, staff and her love towards her family is the reason why the Memorial Fund helps the children of the school.

Registration applications for the event can be found in many stores at Beach 116 Street.

Mail in registration is $15.00 and registration at the day of the race is $20.00 For those who are 14 and under, mail in registration is $5.00 and registration day of the race is $10.00.

The post race party for those who do not apply for either races is $5.00.

Mail applications and checks to the Rita Daly Memorial Run: c/o Patrick Daly, 2327 Yorktown Street, Oceanside, NY 11572.
