Michael Dennis Glover Lance Corporal, USMC

Michael Dennis Glover, a Belle Harbor resident and U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Reservist, was killed in action in Fallujah, Iraq, on August 16. He was 28.

Glover was a graduate of Xavier High School and the State University of New York at Albany, and was a student at Pace University School of Law. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Purple Heart, Iraq Campaign Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for Rescue Missions for Katrina victims.

Glover is survived by his parents, Margaret M. Glover of New York, New York and Dennis W. Glover of Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania; sister, Elizabeth D. Doherty (Brian) of Roseville, California; nephew and godson, Jeremiah; niece, Caitlyn; grandmother, Rita M. McCarthy of Belle Harbor; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Francis de Sales on Saturday, August 26 at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be held at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael D. Glover Gaelic Law Society Scholarship Fund at Pace University.

Antoinette Angone

School Cook, NYC Board of Ed

Antoinette Angone, who arrived in Rockaway in 1928 directly from Italy, died August 18.

Angone was a school cook for the New York City Board of Education.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Angone.

Angone is survived by daughters, Eleanor Raftery and Ann Marie Luongo; sisters, Rose Ritondo, Minnie Whelan, Carmela Ebert and Grace Clark; and grandchildren, Patrick, Mary Ann, Bernadett and James.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Juana Jimenez

Longtime Resident

Juana Jimenez, a Rockaway resident for over 40 years, died August 10 at Peninsula Hospital. She was 92.

Jimenez was born on August 7, 1914 in the Dominican Republic.

She was preceded in death by nine of her children.

Jimenez is survived by her sister, Flor M. Malagon, of Puerto Rico; sons, Carlos, Rafael O. and Claudio; daughters, Norma Espinosa, Brunilda Jimenez, Augusta, Marianela, Sofia, Francisca and Carmen; 27 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.

Cruz M. Rosa

Homemaker

Cruz M. Rosa, a Rockaway resident for five years coming from Bensonhurst, died August 21.

Rosa, a homemaker, was born in Cuba.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Rosa.

Rosa is survived by her daughter, Miriam Jimenez (Ramiro); grandchildren, Miriam Jimenez Tumelty (John) and Ana Juneau; and great-grandchildren, Moran Juneau, Christopher Juneau and Thomas Tumelty.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
