Action Center Hosts Youth Expo 2006 At Beach Channel HS
At what was billed as "the biggest Queens youth event to take place" where "thousands of Queens residents will gather to celebrate The Action Center Youth Expo 2006" a sparse crowd came to watch young people from the Action Center dance, sing and take part in soccer clinics with professional soccer players.
What was lacking in numbers was made up for by the enthusiasm of the youngsters who performed for their parents and friends in the opening ceremony.
There were carnival games and rides, food and a raffle for a new car. In addition, the R & B group 112 performed.
It was hoped that last Sunday's fundraiser, at Beach Channel High School, would garner enough money for the Action Center to support new track and field, soccer, health and fitness and swimming teams.
It was unclear at press time as to whether the organization achieved its goal because of the small turnout.
