The Rountree's Celebrate Golden Anniversary
George and Virginia Rountree of Rockaway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 13 with friends and family. The celebration began with a 9:15 a.m. mass at St. Gertrude's, with a blessing for the couple by Father Brendan. The day continued with a party held at the Tessier Learning Center at St. Gertrude's, where family and friends gathered to celebrate the couple as they danced to Etta James' "At Last." Guests included their children, Deborah, Patrick and George Jr.; granddaughter, Kristina; nieces and nephews, Yvonne, Thomasina, Paula, Vanessa, David, Jannifa, Carl and his wife, Marion; siblings, Alfred and Annabelle; grand-nieces and nephews, Tamika, Danette, Pam, Shawanna, Tree and Tim; great-grand nieces and nephews, Shaun, Sachielle, Troy, Washieka, Tajana, Camden, Tyler, Marion, Reid, Marvin, Harry, Henry and DJ. Father John Amon, the former priest at St. Gertrude's whose parish is now Holy Family in Canarsie, was also in attendance to celebrate the event.
