Jamaica Bay Eco-Watchers Note Improvement

Jamaica Bay Eco-Watchers (left to right) Dan Mundy, Sr., Mike McGovern, Dan Mundy, Jr., and Artie Minor along with Army Corps. of Engineers Construction Coordinator, Don Braun (center), inspected the marsh restoration site at Elder's Point in Jamaica Bay and were impressed with the progress being made. Approximately 200,000 cubic yards of sand and over 300,000 plants have been placed. Many of the early plantings have doubled in size and new root systems are taking place. Next week, additional sand will be transported in and pumped onto the site.
