Anthony Boswell Entrepreneur

Anthony Boswell, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died July 31. He was 68.

Boswell, who owned and operated his own restaurant business, was born on January 1, 1938 in Manhattan.

He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Boswell of Norfolk, Virginia; grandchildren, Daniesha Boswell and Justin Johnson; sister, Linda Boswell; one brother; caretaker and friend, Mary Steiner; niece, Chanelle Wilson; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester, New York.

James F. Brennan

Supreme Court Officer

James F. Brennan, a Rockaway resident for 30 years coming from the Bronx, died August 5.

Brennan, a New York State Supreme Court Officer, was born in Manhattan and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (nee Coar); son, Thomas O'Brien; brother, John Brennan; and sisters, Mary Taylor and Helen Walsh.

Brennan is survived by son, Kevin O'Brien; brother, William Brennan; sister, Julia Kirkham; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.

Daisy Belle Collins

Homemaker

Daisy Belle Collins, a longtime resident of Rockaway Beach, died August 5. She was 78.

Collins, a homemaker, was born on April 28, 1928 in Crawfordville, Georgia. Her family said she was a devout Christian under the leadership of the late Reverend S.L. Hunt.

Collins was preceded in death by her parents, Dwellie and Lillie Belle Evans.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Winston of Rockaway Beach and Sandra Collins of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Danielle Winston, Sabrina Winston, Christopher Giffith, Cherice Winston and Ashlee Galbreath; great-grandchild, Lamel Robinson; brothers, Frank Evans and Sewell Evans of New York; sister-in-law, Jean Evans; son-in-law, Lawrence Winston; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.

Michael J. Cregan

Longtime Rockaway Resident

Michael J. Cregan, a longtime Rockaway resident, died August 1.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora (nee Kelly) and Luke Cregan of Rockaway Park; sister, Judith Rubino; and brother, James.

Cregan is survived by his wife, Suzanne (nee Lanes); sister, Maureen Ryan; brothers-in-law, Dom Rubino and Dennis Ryan; and nieces, Megan Rubino and Amanda Ryan.

Funeral services were entrusted to the Andrett Funeral Home in New York. Cregan received a soldier's burial at Calverton National Cemetery.

James F. Dowling

NYPD Lieutenant

James F. Dowling, a Rockaway resident for 40 years who was born in Brooklyn, died August 7.

Dowling, an NYPD lieutenant, was a longtime member of the Emergency Service Unit and retired from the HQ Support of the NYPD in 1987. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the McLaughlin VFW Post and the American Legion. Dowling was also a member of the St. Thomas More St. Edmund Holy Name Society.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Reverend John Dowling; sister, Agnes FitzGerald; and niece, Joan DuBois.

Dowling is survived by his wife, Anne K. Dowling (nee Dougherty); and niece, Eileen Sudler.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Edmund's Church in Breezy Point. Interment will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.

Lamont McLamb

Lifelong Rockaway Resident

Lamont "Gooch" McLamb, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died August 1. He was 24.

McLamb was born on October 17, 1981 in Queens. His hobbies included deejaying music and dancing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Michelle Garline.

McLamb is survived by his father, Terry McLamb; stepmother, Tawana McLamb; brother, Terrell; sisters, Tasheema, Taterra and Talasha; uncles, Ralph and Darnell; aunts, Mary, Gail, Bernadette, Karen, Alice, Tashina and Monique; special friend, Tarsha; and many other relatives and friends.

Ileane Nock

Homemaker

Ileane Nock, a Rockaway resident for 50 years coming, died August 2.

Nock, a homemaker, was born in Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Lee Nock.

Nock is survived by daughter, Irma Mae Thomas; sister, Mida Long; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Stephen Spyliopulos

Proprietor, Ft. Greene Grocery Store

Stephen Spyliopulos, a Rockaway resident for 33 years, died August 7.

Spyliopulos, who was born in Manhattan, served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of the State Community Mayors.

Spyliopulos, was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo (nee Nicholas) and sister, Diane Arthus.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie West (Thomas); son, Marc (Debbie); sister, Ann Glavas; grandchildren, Seven, Suzanne, Andrew Spyliopulos and Lauren and Alexander West.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Three Hierarchs Greek Church in Brooklyn.

Olivia Judy Winds

Home Attendant

Olivia Judy Winds, a Rockaway resident for over five years, died August 2. She was 58.

Winds, a home attendant, was born on February 28, 1948 in Manhattan.

She is survived by her children, Theresa and Latisha; grandchildren, Corey, Shanika, Raheim, Shanay and Shaquay; great-grandchildren, Nevea and Jaylin; and many other relatives and friends.
