Laurence Pump Celebrates Championship

The players and coaches of the first place Laurence Pump softball team: Players- Mary Ameruso, Bridget Grogan, Judith Wanderer, Taylor Conroy, Kyra Meli, Rebecca Resner, Pauline O'Shea, Erin Tacopina, Brittany Lonnborg, Kristen Lonnborg, Lauren Houck, Marissa Scotto and Annette Scotto.  Coaches- Elaine Scotto, Jim Hurley and Bill Murphy.

Coaches- Elaine Scotto, Jim Hurley and Bill Murphy. The Rockaway Little League Major Girls softball team Lawrence Pump, held their championship awards presentation party on July 21. Many thanks go to the Monsignor William F. Burke- Rockaway Council #2672, Knights of Columbus for providing the team and many family members a room for the event. Each girl was presented a first place trophy and a championship sweatshirt (after finishing with some "Elegante" pizza)

Individual special awards were presented, with one award given for having the qualities of "Heart", "The Spirit", "Motivation", "Desire" and Giving 100% of One's Self. The Heart award went to Mary Ameruso, Rebecca Resner, Frances Amodeo and Marissa Scotto.

Kyra Meli was presented with a special "Golden Glove" award for her extraordinary plays at shortstop. Judith Wanderer received the sportsmanship award as a talented, caring and light-hearted player.

The outstanding player award went to Lauren Houck, who proved herself a dynamic player in the outfield, first and third base. Two girls more than qualified for the M.V. P. award which went to Catherine Murphy, pitcher and Pauline O'Shea as catcher. Congratulations to the entire team.
