NYC Transit Authority Conductor
Ernest T. Arnao, a former Rockaway Park and Far Rockaway resident for 30 years, died June 29. He was 84. Arnao, a New York City Transit Authority Conductor of 23 years, was born on November 27, 1920 in New York City. He retired to Beachwood, New Jersey in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Chickie); eight children; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mastapeter Funeral Home in Roselle Park, New Jersey.
Donald Robert Braithwaite, Sr.
Electrician and Teacher
Donald Robert Braithwaite, Sr., a Rockaway resident for 37 years, died July 13. He was 62.
Braithwaite, an electrician and teacher, was born in Jamaica, Queens. He graduated from JHS 198, Woodrow Wilson High School and Bronx Community College, with a degree in Engineering.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1967 as Petty Officer, Electrician Mate. He inspired Word Ministries in the Bronx, and moved to Florida in 1994.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Jonathan and Amy Ince.
Braithwaite is survived by his mother, Evelyn Brown; brother, Stanley Brown; sister, Gwendolyn Meredith; wife, Helena Braithwaite; children, Perry, Donald Jr., Desiree, Dawn and Dawn Michelle; grandchildren, Tinesha, Shakoi, Dorothy, Allysa, Ethan, Sade, Aminique and Jaylin; daughters-in-law, Sharon and Ileta; nephews, Vernon Brown and Willis Perry; niece, Yatte Brown; sister-in-law, Linda Brown; brother-in-law, William Meredith; and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
Anderson Lincoln Bullock
Anderson Lincoln Bullock, a Rockaway resident for over five years, died July 28. He was 78.
Bullock, a realtor, was born on February 12, 1928 in Brooklyn. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
Bullock is survived by his wife, Annie Bullock; daughter, Karen Young; granddaughter, Ashley Young; stepdaughter, Minister Dianne Kendall; step-grandchildren, Lefonzo and Joi Kendall; sisters, Florence Thomas, Lillian Miller and Eleanor Shelton; great aunts, Lucy Jones and Henrietta Clark; nieces and nephews, Jerrold Miller, Gregory Miller, Sharon Corpening, Cheryl Shelton, Erik Shelton, Marsha Elliott, Elisa Black and Mark Ball; and great-nieces and nephews, Morgan and Victoria Miller, Chelsea and Vincent Corpening, Ashon Miller, Erik Taylor, Sean and Ella Shelton, Erik Smith, Jennifer, Ivanna Elliott, James Elliott Jr. and Ayana Ball.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation was held at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
Brigitte Cannon, a longtime resident of Five Towns, died July 28 at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in Manhattan after a lengthy illness. She was 60.
Cannon, a homemaker and popular waitress at John's Coffee Shop in Cedarhurst, was born in Denmark. In her youth, she came to the United States with her family.
She is survived by her husband, John H. Cannon of Cedarhurst; children, Clifford Greck Jr. of Cedarhurst Kim Martin of Inwood, Russell Greck of Island Park and Brigitte Greck of Cedarhurst.; five grandchildren; and three sisters.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home, Inc. of Inwood. A funeral service was held at the Meserole Funeral Home.
Interment was at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, Long Island.
Winifred N. Griffin
Winifred N. Griffin, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died July 31.
Griffin, a nurse's aide, was born in Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Griffin; son, Richard Griffin; brother, Henry Kearney; and sister, Eileen McDonough.
Griffin is survived by her son, John Griffin; daughter, Maureen Griffin; grandchildren, ToniMarie and Meghan; and great grandchildren, Dominick, Michael, and Joseph.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church.
Interment was at St. Raymond's in the Bronx.
Alice M. McDonald
Alice M. McDonald, a Rockaway resident for 35 years, died July 29.
McDonald, a secretary for St. Saviour's High School, was born on November 3, 1926 in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband, Edward G. McDonald; son, Kevin McDonald; daughters, Sharon McDonald-Beckett and Maureen Cagino; grandchildren, Keith, Bazin and Catherine Cagino; and great grandchildren, William and Theodore Bazin.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Edmund's Church in Breezy Point.
Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
Edna Mary Noonan
Edna Mary Noonan, a Rockaway resident for over 40 years, died August 2.
Noonan, a nurse's aide, was born in Granard, County Longford, Ireland. She was a member of the St. Thomas More Golden Age Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Noonan and daughter, Marlene Murphy.
Noonan is survived by her sons, Peter and Ben Noonan; sister, Kathleen Lee; grandchildren, Peter Jr., Moira, Sean, Meghan, Kerry, Eddie, and Kevin; and great grandchildren, Kiernan and Charlie.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
Customer Service Manager
Deborah O'Connor, a Cedarhurst resident who grew up in Far Rockaway, died July 26. She was 35.
O'Connor, a customer service manager at Millennium Toyota in Hempstead, Long Island, was born in Far Rockaway. She attended St. Mary's School in Far Rockaway and Lawrence High School. She also trained as a court stenographer.
She was preceded in death by her father, John O'Connor.
O'Connor is survived by her mother, Margaret O'Connor (nee Dunnion); brother, Dennis O'Connor of Lynbrook; sisters, Christine and Cathleen O'Connor of Cedarhurst; niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Kyle; and dear friend, Richard Marchetti of Cedarhurst.

James Franklin Roy, Jr.
James Franklin Roy, Jr., a Rockaway resident for five years, died July 30. He was 64.
Roy, a mail supervisor, was born on October 12, 1941 in Culpeper, Virginia.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Roy; daughter, Dana Roy; mother, Elsie Jackson; ex-wife, Hortense Cox; ex-wife, Jacqueline Twiggs-Roy; stepson, Andre Missouri; sisters, Ernestine Jones and Debra Gray; devoted cousins who were raised with Roy as if they were siblings, Keith Brent and Carolyn E. Brent; nieces, Regina Roy, Tamekio Jackson and Danielle Jackson; nephews, Mark Roy, Brian Jones and Jamar Bennett; uncle, James D. Carter; and many other relatives and friends.
