The Beach Club's BBQ Fundraiser on July 13 for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island was a success, in part from pledged support by Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer and State Senator Malcolm Smith.

Steve Good, proprietor of the Beach Club, provided a comfortable and elegant candle-lit setting with a menu of steak, shrimp, chicken and other treats. Funtime Video and Entertainment provided a party atmosphere and DJ John played lively tunes while guests danced the night away. New Rotary Club president Nancy Hanson attended the event with her children, and Rabbi May, formerly of West End Temple in Belle Harbor, was also present.

Emily and Claudia Dana, daughters of Rotarian Mark Dana, contributed $137 in proceeds from the sales of hand-crafted bracelets.

The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a "home away from home" for families who are caring for seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment in area hospitals.

The House's first fundraiser in the Rockaways was well-received; the majority of Queens families who have stayed at the House are from the Rockaway peninsula.
