Lois Distasio Homemaker

Lois Distasio, a Rockaway resident, died July 26 in Edison, New Jersey. She was 79.

Distasio, a homemaker, was born in Brooklyn and lived in Belle Harbor and Colonia, New Jersey. She was a parishioner of St. John Vianney's Church in Colonia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Distasio.

Distasio is survived by her son, Donald; daughters, Lois Ann Peterson, Margaret Nolan and Ronnie Wissemann; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Gosselin Funeral Home, in Edison, New Jersey. Visitation will be held Friday, July 28, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 29 at 9:15 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at St. John Vianney's Church in Colonia. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.

At the request of the family, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Glenn A. Forde

Maintenance Engineer

Glenn A. "Blue" Forde, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died July 17. He was 46.

Forde, a maintenance engineer, was born on May 27, 1960 in Brooklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia Brown and Carlton Forde.

Forde is survived by wife, Terri Grant; sons, Glenn Anthony Forde and Eliajahblu Forde; sisters, Judy, Jenny, Jenete, and Cheryl; sister-in-law, Lisa Grant; brothers, Michael and Carlton; brothers-in-law, Ronald and David; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation was held at St. John Baptist Church in Arverne. Disposition was at Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester, New York.

Adleen Anita Kirton

NYPD Traffic Supervisor

Adleen Anita Kirton, a Rockaway resident for over 20 years, died July 22. She was 53.

Kirton, an NYPD Traffic Supervisor, was born on August 31, 1953 in St. Johns, Barbados.

She is survived by her husband, Dawson Kirton; parents, Marion and Stanley Sealey; children, Lisa Battleday, Jaime Kirton, and Keisha Kirton; grandchildren, Evan and Shawn; sisters, Merlyne, Thelma, Sylvia, Jennifer, Joyce and Karen; brothers, Anthony and Anderson; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Michael, Barbados.

Joan M. Russell

Homemaker

Joan M. Russell, a Broad Channel resident for 50 years, died July 24 in her home in Florida. She was 73.

Russell, a homemaker, was born in Brooklyn and was a dispatcher and member of the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years and Chief of the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years, Robert; parents, Jim and Viola Farrell, of Broad Channel; brother, William Fagen; and sisters, Margaret Gaynor, Doris Lorenzo, and Eleanor Hogan-O'Gara.

Russell is survived by her daughter, Debra Kase (Stephen); sons, Robert (Theresa), Daniel (Debi), Timothy (Michelle), William, and Richard (Barbara); 13 grand children; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Margaret Geotke.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Brewer & Sons Funeral Home in Spring Hill, Florida.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis Cabrini Church in Spring Hill.

Interment was at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
