Mary N. Antonelle Salesperson

Mary N. Antonelle, a Rockaway resident for 41 years coming from Bushwick, Brooklyn died July 13.

Antonelle, a salesperson, was born in Brooklyn and was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patsy Antonelle.

Antonelle is survived by her sons, Patrick Antonelle and Rev. John Antonelle; siblings, Frank Liotonio, Nicholas Liontonio, Theresa Liontonio, Joseph Liontonio, Domenica Crasto and Thomas Liontonio; and grandchildren, Rosemary and Christopher Antonelle.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.

Charles McCullough

Retired Postal Worker

Charles McCullough, a Rockaway resident for 15 years, died June 17. He was 73.

McCullough, a retired United States Postal Service employee for 30 years, was born on November 15, 1932 in Trinity, Alabama. After his retirement in 1991, he moved to the Rockaways. McCullough served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Christ at the Trinity AME Church in Alabama and served as a Sunday School Superintendent. Later in life he was a member of the G.E. Patterson Ministry, Bountiful Blessings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Teal and Dave McCullough; and brothers, David McCullough and Aaron McCullough.

McCullough is survived by his siblings, Flora Quarles, Henry McCullough, Jenny B. Silver, Ronnie McCullough and Catherine McCullough; aunts, Louise Ellison and Geraldine Wheeler; nieces, April Silver, Betina McCullough, Christina Sanders, Constance McCullough, D'jenaba McCullough, Emily McCullough, Karima McCullough, Kimberly McCullough, Maria McCullough, Michele McCullough, Paula Jackson, Teresa Quarles, Tiera McCullough and Tracy Quarles; nephews, Andrew McCullough, Eddie Omar Silver, Michael Edmonson, Michael McCullough, Richard Eugene Quarles Jr. and Ronnie McCullough Jr.; special friends, Johnny Walker, Sharon Ware, Michael Ware, Doris Mitchell and Helen Culver; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gilmore's Funeral Home Inc. in St. Albans, New York. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.

Costas Sava


Costas Sava, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died July 18.

Sava, a carpenter, was born in Far Rockaway. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Joan (nee Stratton); son, James (Debbie); daughter, Patricia (Randy); sister, Renee Giordanello; grandchildren, Patty, Ricky, Melanie, Julia, Crystal, Christopher, Donna, Stacy, and Jamie; great grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Heather, and Antonio.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home.
