Rock Park Man Faces Nassau Rape Charge
A Rockaway Park man faces rape and other criminal sex charges after he allegedly raped a Nassau Community College student on the school's campus last September, according to court records.
Travis Hendrickson, 21, allegedly raped and performed oral sex on an 18-year-old girl on September 12, 2005, somewhere on NCC's campus on Long Island.
Hendrickson was arrested in Rockaway on June 29, 2006 and was arraigned later that day on the charges of third degree rape and third degree criminal sex act, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
It was unclear if Hendrickson and the 18-year-old girl were acquaintances. The girl was enrolled at the school and Hendrickson was not, according to another published report.
It was also unclear when the rape was reported to authorities. Court records say the allegations are based on "the investigation, statement of the victim and the medical evidence."
The 18-year-old girl's name was withheld by the Nassau District Attorney due to the nature of the alleged incident.
Hendrickson of 319 Beach 98 Street, 8F, is due back in court on July 10. His attorney could not be reached for a comment.
NCC's 225-acre campus is located in East Garden City, Long Island. The college has an enrollment of about 21,000 full and part-time students, according to its website.
Court records specify only 1 Education Drive, the college's generic address for its entire campus as the location of the alleged rape.
Reginald Tuggle, NCC's director of college/community relations, would not comment on the specifics of the alleged rape.
