Ancient Egypt Right In The Front Yard
A large group of home-schooled children took part in an archaeological dig under the guidance of professional archaeologist Geof "Bad Dog" Purcell in Broad Channel at the beginning of June. The event was hosted by Faye and John Zuzworsky, who allowed their front yard to be turned into an Egyptian burial ground site. The children, ages 6 to 14, spent a week meticulously excavating a huge trench and extracting artifacts, identifying them, discussing their context and age, and preparing a presentation and exhibition for their families on the final day. Pictured are some of the kids at the archaeological site.
