Terry Benson NYC Board of Ed. Employee

Terry Benson, a Rockaway resident for 28 years coming from Woodside, Queens, died June 27.

Benson, a New York City Board of Education employee and member of the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) for many years, was born in Manhattan.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Benson; sons, Jim Jr. and Brian; daughters, Christine Scheinman and Mary Benson; and grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, Megan, and James II.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5 and Thursday, July 6, 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 7 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor. Disposition will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry Benson's name can be made to Columbia University Lung Transport Program, New York Presbyterian Lung Transplant, 622 W. 168 Street, PH14, Room 104, New York, NY 10032.

Latina Irene Bilbro

Student

Latina Irene Bilbro, a lifetime resident of Rockaway, died June 21. She was 18.

Bilbro, a student, was born on June 14, 1988.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Elaine Britt and Sallie Mae Bilbro; grandfathers, Willie Bilbro and Esau Britt; great-grandmothers, Martha Lee Jackson and Rachel Williams; godfather, Reverend Charles Jones; and cousin, Raheem Britt.

Bilbro is survived by her mother, Vernell Britt; father, Joe Bilbro; sisters, Latoya (Floyd) Bilbro of Far Rockaway and Jessica Bilbro of Inwood; brothers, Joseph and Jordan Bilbro of Far Rockaway; niece, Brianna Johnson of Far Rockaway; aunts, Michelle Jones and Christina Britt of Bowman, South Carolina; uncles, Esau and Michael Britt of Far Rockaway; cousins, Ly'echelle Britt, Bobby Greaves of Far Rockaway, Aaliyah Anderson of Bowman, South Carolina, Sharae and Shawntae Baker of Far Rockaway; loved one, Jermaine (Jamaica) Carnegia; close cousins and best friends, Precious McClendon and Shanette Buggs; best friends, Sean (Jooks) Pinder, Keith Jones and Tyrone (Act) Winslow; godmother, Pastor Eloise Jones; and many other family and friends.

Rahjique Burke

Worked In Real Estate

Rahjique Burke, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died June 19. He was 27.

Burke, who worked in real estate, was born on July 29, 1979 in Forest Hills.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy Burke, Lester Burke and Ethel Wallace.

Burke is survived by his mother, Camenlita Burke; father, Byron Wallace; fiance, Samantha Henry; grandfather, Dennis Wallace; siblings, Raasheda Burke, Rhhaaliek Burke, Rhonique Burke; Rhaamell Burke, Quilliam Wallace and Leroy Johnson; aunt, Cheryl Wallace; great-aunts, Thelma Gadson and Ernestine Green; uncles, Decato Burke, Winifred Burke, Lamont Howard, Gary Wallace and Alvin Wallace; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with visitation at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville, New Jersey.

Dorothy Condon

Retired Child Care Worker

Dorothy Condon, a Rockaway resident for 10 years, died June 28.

Condon, who was born in Brooklyn, was a retired childcare worker for Angel Guardian Home.

Condon is survived by her nephew, John E. Walsh; niece, Josephine Lavoe; grand-nieces, Erin, Bonnie, and Ann Walsh; and grand-nephews, John Walsh, John, and Jude Lavoe.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 1, 8:30-9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 1, at 10 a.m., at St. Camillus Church. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village.

Dorette Angela Ford

Certified Medical Assistant

Dorette Angela Ford, a Rockaway resident for over 10 years, died June 19. She was 47.

Ford, a certified medical assistant, was born on May 2, 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. She was a member of Alive Ministries in Far Rockaway.

Ford is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Sheryl, Robert, and Sherikea; two granddaughters Ashley and Tianna; son-in-law, Jahred; daughter-in-law, Audia; extended family, Owen, Michael, Christopher, Devon, and Stephanie; close family friend, Frederick; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation was held at Alive Ministries in Far Rockaway. Interment was at Dovecott Cemetery in Jamaica, West Indies.

Eddie Freeman

Longtime Resident

Eddie Freeman, a Rockaway resident for over 20 years, died June 20. He was 76.

Freeman was born on May 28, 1930 in Wrens, Georgia. He was a member of the Rockaway Community Bowling League.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

Freeman is survived by longtime friend, Elizabeth King; godson, Robert Jordon; three nieces, Judy Thomas, Eldora King and Willie R. Eason; two cousins, Mary Fye and Margarite Haywood; very special friends, Ambassador Robert Glover, Mr. Bobby "T," Benjamin Martin and Reverend Al Braxton; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation was held at St. John Baptist Church in Inwood. Interment was at Rockville Cemetery in Lynbrook, New York.

Johnna Lorette Hill

Certified Nurses' Aide

Johnna Lorette Hill, a Rockaway resident for over 20 years, died June 19. She was 37.

Hill, a certified nurses' aide, was born on August 18, 1968 in the Bronx.

Hill is survived by her children, Joseph, Jamol, Jasmine, Janay, and Jamel; grandchildren, Jahnique, Joniya and Josiah; brothers, John and Darin Hill; sister, Michelle Kinard; sister-in-law, Kendyll Hill; nieces, Candice, Ashanti and Eunice; nephews, Elijah, Michael, Malachi, Alijah and Isaiah; uncle, James Ford; aunt, Mary Ford; several very special friends, Ronald Romeo, Vanessa and Stephanie Davis, Mrs. Collington, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell, Dianne McCrae and Joseph Farrell; and many other family and friends.

Arthur 'Buddy' Nolan

Salesman

Arthur "Buddy" Nolan, a lifetime Rockaway resident, died June 28.

Nolan, a salesman, was born in Manhattan. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. Nolan was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Nolan is preceded in death by his son, Michael; and sister, Barbara Corcoran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary K. Whelan Nolan; sons, Sean (Jennifer), Kevin (Kelley), Christopher (Penny Lane); brother, John (Lynn); brother-in-law, Joe Corcoran; and grandchildren, Connor and Caeley.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2, 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 3, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
