Breezy Point Par-Tee Golf News

By Peg Ansbro

LAWS OF GOLF: # 1 - No matter how bad your last shot was, you should have inner peace knowing that a lousier one is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18 th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime.

Our best player again this week is Doris Neimeth. She scored an amazing 59!!!!! And she had a chip-in-bird on #6. Way to go, Doris!

Following close behind were Nancy Heffernan and Pam Armour with 61. Others in the sixties were Joan McNally and Peg Ansbro with 67 and Gail Clifford with 69. In the seventies were Barbara Caramelli (70), Chris Brunner (72), Pat Kelly (73), Eileen Witzgall (74), Ruth Galligan, Evie McVeigh and Pat Jordan all had 75, Mildred Seligman and Dottie Dunne (76), Betty Monahan and Lorraine Pierson (77), and four ladies scored 78-Marge O'Leary, Marilyn Danese, Kay Miller, and Dotty Sullivan.

Besides Doris, chip-in-birds were scored by Eileen Witzgall and Mildred Duffy on #5, Peg Ansbro on # 2 and Alice Mateos on #1. Chip-ins was scored by Marie LoPresti on #15 and Gail Clifford on # 17. Kay Miller had a bird on #5, Evie McVeigh on #10, Joan McNally on #2, Ann Tobin on #1, Pat Kelly on #5, Pat Livingstone on #2, Chris Brunner on #18. Nancy Heffernan had two birdies on 15 and 18. Congratulations to Pam Armour who had three birdies on 9, 11 and 12!!!!

Closest to the pin on #1 was Ruth Galligan and on #18 the winner was Chris Brunner. The winner of the 50/50 was Evie McVeigh.

The Par Tee Ladies mourn the loss of their founder, mentor, and first president, Emily A. Basher. She founded the group in 1982 and was an inspirational leader and player. Several years ago, in September, Emily spoke at our closing luncheon. I was very impressed with her public speaking, her support of the group she founded and her interest in all of those present. She was a well-loved, respected and admired lady. We shall miss her very much. We offer our condolences to her four sons and their families. May she rest in peace.

God Bless!! Have a great week!!
