Patrol Car Collision Sends Six To Hospital

An NYPD patrol car responding with lights and siren blaring to a call of "shots fired" at the Hammel Houses on Beach 81 Street collided at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday night with an automobile that, witnesses say, passed through a red light into the intersection. The multiple reports of more than a dozen shots fired brought police officers from all over the 100 Precinct responding to Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 81 Street. Two police officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital, where they were reportedly treated and released. Four civilians, including this young child, were brought to the Peninsula Hospital Center by EMS ambulance. There was no information on their condition at press time.
