PS 253 Donates Toys To Children's Hospital
The PS 253 "Cash Counselors," through the guidance of teachers Wendy Steiner and Tracey Kornblum, donated $1,000 worth of toys and other needed items to the patients at Schneider Children's Hospital in Floral Park.
The grant was provided by the school's Penny Harvest, after PS 253 collected pennies from the students and met the Penny Harvest goal. The "Cash Counselors" met each week and as a group decided to buy and donate items to children in need at the hospital. The teachers and students took a field trip to the hospital to donate the toys, where they met with the Child Life Coordinator who answered questions about the program.
