Laurence Wins Two Games Against Caiazzo,Walsh

By Jim Hurley Coach/ ManagerLaurence Pump

The June 11 scheduled doubleheader between Walsh Properties and Laurence Pump didn't materialize as Walsh forfeited the second game. The results of the first game (completed in a record one hour, five minutes) proved to be a low scoring match. Laurence went scoreless for three of their five times at bat. However, Walsh went scoreless five of their six at bats.

Neither team walked any batters. Cat Murphy did plunk a Walsh batter in the fourth but she struck out three in the game. Laurence Pump played without three of their most experienced players but they made up for it in the clutch. Cat Murphy scored twice. Pauline O'Shea knocked in two RBI. Rebecca Kesner and O'Shea, scored via RBIs by Lauren Houck. Laurence Pump would claim the victory 41.

The girls of Laurence Pump were in good form on June 9 in a rescheduled game against Caiazzo Plumbing. The Laurence bats were hot in the first inning with Judith Wanderer, Marissa Scotto and Annette Scotto securing singles in the first inning with Cat Murphy and Pauline O'Shea also contributing. Caiazzo only scored one run in the first and could not get a run in the second and the third.

Scotto and Wanderer each hit two run homers in an 8 run explosion for Laurence Pump in the third inning. Bridget Grogan helped Laurence score four runs in the fourth before Caiazzo stormed back with nine runs in the last two innings. Laurence Pump would hang on to a 15-10 win as both teams were exemplary on the field and showed tremendous heart.
