Locals Shine at Midwood Lacrosse Dinner
The Midwood Lacrosse family bid a fond farewell to 12 of its seniors at their annual awards dinner on June 12. The dinner, held at Buckley's, was very well attended after the PSAL champion Hornets' record breaking season. Rockaway seniors Jeremy Ehresman, Evan Hamburger, Matt Michaels and Lukasz Boruch were all recognized for their skills and performance this past year: Jeremy for offensive player of the year, Lukasz as defensive player of the year, Matt as the "unsung hero" of the year, and Evan as "Iron Man" of the year. Evan was also awarded an academic excellence award for achieving a 99.5 average. Rob McCabe, a junior, shared the offensive player of the year award with Jeremy, and Tim Halligan received recognition for his 90.5 average.
Scholarships for lacrosse camps were given out and participation awards were given to all. Lacrosse Parents' Club co-president Susan Ehresman was awarded a special trophy as she said goodbye after 4 years of service and involvement. Juniors and sophomores took up the mantle of victory and prepared to carry it next year, as they look forward trying to live up to or surpass this year's achievements.
Most of the team will be attending lacrosse camps over the summer to hone their skills and stay in shape for next season. Congratulations and best of luck to our graduating hornets!
