Body Of Fisherman Found In Jamaica Bay
The body of a man tentatively identified as Jeremiah Swinton, a 36-year-old postal worker who disappeared in Jamaica Bay June 13 after the boat he was in capsized off Breezy Point, was found floating in the bay by a boater Thursday morning. The body, which was identified by clothing and identification still in his pocket, was brought to the former Coast Guard Station in Fort Tilden where authorities, seen here, brought him ashore. The body was taken by the city's medical examiner for a formal identification. The 22-foot boat that Swinton was fishing from belonged to a friend who docked his craft at the Gateway Marina in Brooklyn. The boat owner and two others were rescued by a civilian boater after the capsize, but Swinton, who was not wearing a life jacket, disappeared. Photo By Doug Macleod.
